Let’s Talk About Listicles

Listicles are so much fun. It is a simply opinion piece that can apply to literally anything! From your favorite movies to the worst costumers you can possibly meet at work, when you see a listicle with a title that you are interested in you click immediately because most of the time you want to know if the said list agrees with your own opinion. They usually are in descending order, starting with the least and leading to the best, otherwise you wouldn’t really care about the rest if the ending is already spoiled. I think listicles are a great way to bring everyone together because everyone has an opinion and you can see what people think to agree or disagree. Or in my case when I want to know what is the best in a series (movies, games, books) so I will read multiple lists and if the number #1 is always the same I can tell that must be the best of the best.

The Legend of Zelda Games Worst to Best

With the new Nintendo Switch coming out in March 2017 (hopefully) there is also a new Legend of Zelda game coming out. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild marks the 19th entry in the series that has been captivating the video game world since 1986. Let’s take a look at the current series and see what I thought were some of the best legends ever… and some not so great legends.

  1. Adventure of Link

The Legend of Zelda: Adventure of Link (or Zelda 2 as so call it) was the second game to be released in the series back in 1987 on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). This has to be my absolute least favorite game in the series. The gameplay is different from any other Zelda game and it is not good in any way. Link must battle his dark doppelganger named Dark Link who wants to kill Link to take his blood and revive his master, Ganon. Adventure of Link can be found on the NES, Game Boy Advance, and can be downloaded on Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

  1. Four Swords

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords came out in 2002 for the Game Boy Advance and was a big disappointment. It was released the same day as the remake of A Link to the Past (one of the best Zelda games) so this fun little side quest was overshadowed. Four Swords also dug its own grave in a way. It can only be played with another person with another copy of the game with another Game Boy Advance (or 4). So when you turn the game on and you are by yourself, you cannot play the game. Wow. Link in this story finds a sword that can make three more copies of himself so he must save Princess Zelda from a wizard named Vaati who wants to marry her.

  1. Triforce Heroes

Another Four Swords game! When will they learn! The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes was released in 2015 for the Nintendo 3DS. Another boring adventure about Link making clones of himself. But here’s the new twist kids! Instead of four Links, there are three! The three Links must restore style to the kingdom…. What? I don’t care.

  1. Four Swords Adventures

Ugh. A step up. But still. Ugh. The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures is the somewhat sequel to Four Swords and was released for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2004. A gigantic version of Four Swords but you can play by yourself. Thank goodness. But it is still boring in every way and not challenging in the least bit. The wizard Vaati is back and has teamed up with Ganon and Dark Link to kill Link and Zelda forever. Snore.

  1. Phantom Hourglass

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass was released for the Nintendo DS in 2007. This game could have been good. Except you have to use a stylus pen to walk… Who thought that was a good idea? You are also timed to beat the game, no stress or anything. Yet another boring tale of Link and a pirate named Linebeck who have to save Zelda because she was turned to stone so they sail the seas to stop the demon, Bellum, and reverse the curse. Would they learn in the next game to not use stylus gameplay?

  1. Spirit Tracks

Nope they did not learn. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks was released for the Nintendo DS in 2009. The story is much better than its prequel, Phantom Hourglass, where Link and Zelda are part of a community that relies on trains for travel. The evil imp named Malladus breaks all the tracks and releases a monster as the land spirals into chaos. Link and Zelda must team up to save the train tracks. A fun goofy idea, but I enjoyed it. Gameplay, awful.

  1. The Wind Waker

Why does Link look like that?? Am I that shallow? Yes. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was released for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2002, and I was not happy. This was the first time our hero Link took that appearance and I still do not like it one bit. Too cartoony and trying to be different. Overall this is a great game about a ocean wide adventure to save Link’s little sister from the clutches of Ganon. Link is assisted by a band of pirates and their captain, Zelda. Link travels the seven seas in an epic quest that is very fun and challenging. Why so low on the list? I am shallow and hate the graphics of this game. The Wind Waker was recently remade for the Wii U with better graphics, but still not my cup of tea.

  1. The Legend of Zelda

The one that started it all! Too cliche to say? But it’s true. The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) came out in 1986 and is revered as a classic. The simple plot was charming. Link is a hero and must save Princess Zelda from the clutches of a demon king named Ganon. Link must travel all over the land and defeat many monsters and puzzles to save the girl. The game has not aged well, but it is a great place to start. The Legend of Zelda can be found on the NES, Game Boy Advance, downloaded on the Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and also a remake was made for the Super Nintendo.

  1. Oracle of Seasons

An odd but sweet title in the mix. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons came out for the Game Boy Color in 2001 the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. This story follows Link in a new land he has never been before and must save the Oracle of Seasons, a girl named Din from the evil hands of General Onox. Since Din was kidnapped, all of the seasons come and go randomly. The game is fun to traverse through winter or summer in the blink of an eye, but nothing new was brought to the table in this entry. Also very bold to not involve Zelda or Ganon at all. Oracle of Seasons can be found on the Game Boy Color and downloaded on Nintendo 3DS.

  1. A Link Between Worlds

What a beautiful blast from the past! The remake/reboot of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past came in 2013 on the Nintendo 3DS called The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. This recreation of the classic game is so much fun and brings back great memories. The map is the same, the monsters, the villians, the music, it is literally a blast from the past. But once again, nothing new to the table. Link must save Princess Zelda again, this time from an evil artist named Yuga who is a servant of Ganon. Link can traverse back and forth between the light world and the dark world and meet the princess of darkness, Princess Hilda, who has her own agenda.

  1. Oracle of Ages

Released the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (2001), this game was just a little bit better and original. Original in many ways, this marks the first game in the series to have a female villain. Veran is an evil witch who has turned the Oracle of Ages, Nayru, into her puppet and messes with time itself. Link, Zelda and others must stop the evil witch and save Nayru before time collapses in on itself. Oracle of Ages can be found on the Game Boy Color and downloaded on Nintendo 3DS.

  1. Link’s Awakening

Was it all a dream? Why is Mario in the game? What is happening? The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is an odd and funny game released in 1993 for the Game Boy. This is by far the funniest title in the series and is very lighthearted. Link shipwrecks on a goofy island full of weird people and talking animals. Link makes friends with the townspeople here and the only way to return home is to wake up the Wind Fish, a whale with wings on top of the island’s single mountain top. Cameos from other Nintendo games make their way in this story, like Mario and Yoshi. This also marks the first game that did not have Princess Zelda or Ganon in it. Link’s Awakening was remade for the Game Boy Color and can be downloaded on Nintendo 3DS.

  1. The Minish Cap

If you enjoyed the Marvel movie Ant-Man or Honey I Shrunk the Kids, you will love The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Released in 2005 for the Game Boy Advance and can only be described as big things come in small packaging. Link finds a hat that can turn him into the size of a bug. This whacky adventure shows the origins of the evil wizard, Vaati, from the Four Swords games and how the Four Sword was built. Unlike those two lame games, The Minish Cap is fun and full of heartfelt moments between Link and Zelda who develop a great bond throughout the game. The Minish Cap can be found on Game Boy Advance and downloaded on Wii U.

  1. Skyward Sword

Where the story all began! An origin story for all of Zelda, sixteen games in! The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2011 and introduced the Wii Motion Plus. This story takes place at the beginning of everything. Link and Zelda live in the sky and are afraid of the surface world. Zelda is swept away one day by a sorcerer named Ghirhim who sees that she is something more than just a princess. Link goes on a skyward adventure flying his trusty Loftwing through the air to save the love of his life. This game is on the Wii and features the Motion Control Plus which allows you to swings the controller in real life and Link will swing his sword the same motion you have. Skyward Sword reveals why the series is called: The Legend of Zelda and it is great with many tear jerking moments and beautiful music.

  1. A Link to the Past

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was released for the Super Nintendo in 1991 and is still today considered one of the greatest games of all time. This game was the biggest trend setter for the series. Every game after just copied elements from A Link to the Past. From the map, to the music, to the villains. Even though it is the 3rd game in the series, it feels like the first and where everyone should begin their Zelda quests. Link must save Zelda and the other maidens in the kingdom from evil wizard Agrahimn and the Demon King Ganon who wish to merge their Dark World with the Light World and rule both worlds. If you are a gamer, this is a must play. It can only be described as fun. A Link to the Past can be found on Super Nintendo, Game Boy Advance, and can be downloaded on Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

  1. Majora’s Mask

Who knew Zelda could go down such a dark and sad path? The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask was released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64. This is the darkest tale in the series. Link comes to a new land and finds out that a little boy has found an evil mask by the name of Majora. The boy was bullied and had no friends and uses the mask to bring the moon crashing into the earth. Link has three days to stop the boy and finds on his quest that everyone in this new land is sad or even dead and are coping with death and loss. The game features many themes and delves into depression, loss, and death and is often pondered upon if it really should be meant for children. This is a great addition to the series and probably the hardest game of all. Majora’s Mask can be found on the Nintendo 64 and was remade for the Nintendo 3DS with newer graphics.

  1. Twilight Princess

My personal favorite in the entire series, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was released in 2006 for the Nintendo Wii. This has to be the most epic story of all Zelda games. Link is turned into a wolf because of a curse from the Prince of Twilight, Zant, who has invaded the kingdom and wants a twilight rule over Zelda. Link teams up with the Twilight Princess, Midna, who is cocky and creepy but forms a great bond with Link as they go on an epic quest to stop Zant and save Zelda and the kingdom. The music is bigger and boistrose. The settings are beautiful and the most detailed in the series and the biggest map to date. This is my perfect Zelda game. Twilight Princess was recently remade for the Wii U and it is fantastic.

  1. Ocarina of Time

The Godfather. The Lord of the Rings. The Star Wars. The Back to the Future. The Babe Ruth. The classic that every video game since has tried to copy. The greatest game of all time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Released in 1998 on the Nintendo 64, where The Legend of Zelda began it all, A Link to the Past expanded it, Ocarina of Time perfected it for all time. Link is given a flute called the Ocarina of Time and with it he can manipulate time. He goes from young boy to adult in a blink and sees that Zelda has already lost to the evil king Ganon. Zelda has gone into hiding and Link must rally the elemental wisemen of fire, water, shadow, forest, light and sand to unite and save the timeline from Ganon’s rule. The music is class, the settings are simple and sweet, the battles are epic, when it needs to be sad it is perfectly sad. When it needs to be scary it is horrific. It hits every note perfectly and will always be considered the greatest game of all time. Ocarina of Time can be found on the Nintendo 64 and was remade for the Nintendo 3DS with better graphics.

The Star Wars Movies from Least Best to Best!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has just come out so it is time to rank up the Star Wars movies!

  1. Return of the Jedi (1983)Image result for return of the jedi

The end of the trilogy, and what a great ending it was. Luke Skywalker’s epic battle in the finale against Darth Vader is classic and standing up to the evil Emperor was even better. Han and Leia are finally together and the Rebels engage in their final assault on the Empire. The only faults this movie has is the Ewoks, tiny bears that take down the Empire with rocks and sticks and bows, and the whole elaborate Jabba’s Palace sequence at the start of the film that is bogged down in so much alien showing off, it becomes boring. Overall this is a great and fun way to end the original trilogy, with a bang!

  1. The Force Awakens (2015)Image result for force awakens poster

Star Wars fans had to wait thirty years for this instant classic to come out and their prayers were answered in the Christmas of 2015. Star Wars: The Force Awakens brought back many of the elements we all loved in the original Star Wars trilogy, especially 1977’s Star Wars. We are introduced to the new main characters of this new sequel trilogy, Rey, Finn and Poe along with their droid BB-8, and the new young villain Kylo Ren. We also see the veterans of the original trilogy return such as Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2. The story follows Rey and Finn as they want to return BB-8 to Leia with the help of Han and Chewbacca. They need to get BB-8 to Leia because he holds the map to finding Luke Skywalker who has gone missing. Kylo Ren is hunting the party down throughout the movie. This film has it all, space battle, the Force, lightsaber duels and above all, a classic story of good vs evil. The only negatives to this new entry is it borrows too much from the 1977 classic Star Wars in almost every way. We will have to find out where this new trilogy will lead us when Part II comes out Christmas 2017.

  1. Rogue One (2016)Image result for rogue one poster

Okay, so I just saw this new Star Wars entry and I was in love immediately when it ended. This I feel was my Star Wars film. It had nothing to do with Jedi or the Force or good vs evil. It was about spies and soldiers on the ground fighting the Empire. There are references left and right from the 1977 Star Wars film and even some characters whose actors passed away were revived with CGI technology which was amazing. The action was superb, the stakes were high and the visuals were fantastic. This was the story about Jyn Erso, who must infiltrate the Empire and steal the blueprints to the Death Star so that when the 1977 Star Wars movie happens, Luke is able to destroy the Death Star. Yes, the last five minutes of Rogue One is the first five minutes of Star Wars 1977. Only problems I had with this film was a clunky start and an awful performance by Forrest Whitaker, otherwise a great prequel story to the saga.

  1. Star Wars (1977)Image result for star wars 1977

The one that started it all! This classic is a must see that changed Hollywood forever. The special effects and action changed the game. The story was so simple you would think it was an old fantasy. A young farmer named Luke and a rogue named Han Solo, with his sidekick Chewbacca, go to save the Princess from the clutches of a dark lord Darth Vader and get help from a wise wizard named Ben. But this is a science fiction tale! Luke Skywalker learns the ways of the Force from old Ben and joins the Rebellion with Leia to stop the evil Empire and their planet destroying Death Star. I would say this movie is flawless and should be number 1 on the list, but it’s sequel is just amazing in every way.

  1. The Empire Strikes Back (1980)Image result for empire strikes back

Probably the greatest sequel of all time. This dark side of the trilogy digs deep as Luke is separated from Han, Leia and Chewbacca because the Empire wants revenge for the events of the first film. Darth Vader is on the hunt for Luke Skywalker, to convert him to the dark side. Luke meets Yoda and must learn the ways of the Force from the master himself. Luke struggles throughout the entire film between good and evil and rushes to face Vader as he has captured his friends. It’s bigger, darker, gloomier, yet full of great lessons and hope and that makes this the best storytelling in the series and number 1 on my list.

You may be thinking, Jesse, you are missing three other Star Wars films. The Prequel Trilogy.

The Phantom Menace (1999)

Attack of the Clones (2002)

Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Well, sorry to say I hate these movies more than anything in the world. They ruined Star Wars and shouldn’t even be considered part of such a great fun series of films. If I had to rank them they would be very low and nothing positive to say about them.

Lets Talk About Digital Genres

The digital genre that I love the most would have to be the concept of the YouTube video. Before YouTube there was just the television and films. Now anyone can make their own show or movie. They can upload opinions or funny moments caught on camera. It invented the phrase that almost anyone says now: “check out this YouTube video” People almost always let the other person know it is specifically a YouTube video. It has become a household name so much so that when I typed “YouTube” just now there is no red line underneath telling me this is incorrect.

The genre of the YouTube video has changed everyone’s lives so much I can’t remember a time without it. I literally use it all the time. There are many people I get solid movie reviews from or maybe I’m stuck on a level in a game and figure out how to do it using someone else who played the game on YouTube. I have never used iTunes, only YouTube! You can literally find any song on YouTube. It’s become part of every day life now and I do not think it will be a phase like Myspace or Vine that came and went.

Lets Talk About Turkle

I would say that I agree with most of what Turkle is saying. I find that technology is amazing and even more amazing that it is constantly improving itself. New technology is making our lives as humans easier and easier, especially when it comes to knowledge and resources. But I believe there is a negative side to it all lately with the rise of social media and smart phones. Social media is amazing! You can do and say whatever you want and let anyone in the world know how you feel. So now everyone’s opinion can be heard and to me that is pointless now. Something is special when it is tiny and is looked upon by many others as something to be talked about forever. Why do hard research on political subjects when you can skim what everyone in the world is saying to form your opinion. There is so much data and power involved in social media and most of it is garbage sadly. When everyone has power then no one does. The individual nobody can now voice his/her opinion and feel special because now they feel like a celebrity. They feel special and can say whatever they want (if you are politically correct that is or else social media will destroy you). With growing technology I feel as if humans are still going down the road of materialistic lifestyle instead of the important things in life. Instead of deep conversation with another about personal goals or even just themes in great novel IN PERSON, people are glued to their phones and their laptops and always worrying about Honey Boo-Boo and Dancing With the Stars or how evil Trump or Hillary is. Instead of enjoying the beauty of nature or taking a spiritual journey, people want to simulate World War II online and constantly shoot one another in the face because war is a game. Instead of working their hardest in work or school or being creative that helps society, people want to waste lives on social media complaining and whining and adding to the junk data that is piling and piling leading us into a future of chaos.

Hotschedules

hot

Hate going to your boss to ask for hours? Hate not being able to find anyone to take your shift because you’re getting your wisdom teeth out that day? Look no further! There is Hotschedules!

Hotschedules is a great app/site to use to interact with your fellow employees to communicate and schedule days. If you need off on a certain day you can easily contact one of your fellow employees on Hotschedules and ask them if they can take that shift for you. Or better you can send a massive message to the whole work staff and maybe someone you do not know so well will pick up the shift for you!

It is easy to use and very helpful in getting to your co-workers easily and letting people know why you need off or why you want to work without having to jump through the hoops of asking or pleading managers. In my opinion every restaurant or food service should use Hotschedules.

Big Social Data. Yikes.

Social Media is a double edged sword. It is amazing to have all that information at your fingertips, but it is also dangerous. All that information that is collected a billion times over can be at the will of the user. This is giving too much power to the individual in my opinion. these tools can be used to spy, to blackmail, and ruin careers.

In one of Lev Manovich’s chapters, Trending: The Promises and the Challenges of Big Social Data he discusses the rise of digital technology and our future. Manovich goes on to say that it is a problem that the education community does not have as much data access that the social media groups have attained.  That size and depth are two very different things but now have become one in the same with big social data.

“We no longer have to choose between data size and data depth. We can study exact trajectories formed by billions of cultural expressions, experiences, texts, and links.”-Lev Manovich

I’ve had many instants in my life in the last couple years of big social data scaring me, leading to the reasonings why I do like like having Twitter or Facebook. I used to have a Facebook and would post about, lets say, a new Marvel film coming out. Eventually I would get pop ups or ads from other websites talking to me about Spider-Man or Captain America! So invasive and perverse. Perverse… that’s an interesting use of the word. Lets use it again. My girlfriend a year ago was a gorgeous tan, green eyes and black haired Italian. She was always in my profile picture and we had many pictures together posted on her social medias. I did not notice at first, but every advertisement on every site I would go on, whether it was online shopping or a gaming site, had a tan girl with big green eyes and black hair. Either a real person or a cartoon, even anime looking girls! How perverse! How manipulative! Maybe I am paranoid, but I will say that I feel a lot better getting less and less away from the big social data, even though it is impossible. HALskynet-92

Interesting Conversation Between Man and Machine!

A scene taken from Metal Gear Solid 2 (2001) of a human soldier having a conversation with a female Artificial Intelligence who has taken over the United States Government with the power of data mining

metalgearsolid2_poster

AI: To begin with, we’re not what you’d call “human.” Over the past 200 years, a consciousness appeared layer by layer at the crucible of the White House. It’s not unlike life started in the oceans four billion years ago. The White House was our primordial soup, a base of evolution. We are formless. We are the very discipline and morality that Americans invoke so often. How can anyone hope to eliminate us? As long as this nation exists, so will we.

Jack: If you are immortal why would you take away individual freedoms and censor the Net?

AI: Don’t you know that our plans have your interests – not ours – in mind? Listen carefully like a good boy. The mapping of the human genome was completed early this century. As a result, the evolutionary log of the human race lay open to us. We started with genetic engineering, and in the end, we succeeded in digitizing life itself. But there are things not covered by genetic information.

Jack: What do you mean?

AI: Human memories, ideas, culture, history. Genes don’t contain any record of human history. Is it something that should not be passed on? Should that information be left at the mercy of nature? We’ve always kept records of our lives. Through words, pictures, symbols.. from tablets to books. But not all the information was inherited by later generations. A small percentage of the whole was selected and processed, then passed on. Not unlike genes, really. That’s what history is, Jack. But in the current, digitized world, trivial information is accumulating every second, preserved in all its triteness. Never fading, always accessible. Rumors about petty issues, misinterpretations, slander. All this junk data preserved in an unfiltered state, growing at an alarming rate. It will only slow down social progress, reduce the rate of evolution. You seem to think our plan is one of censorship.

Jack: Are you telling me it’s not?!

AI: You’re being silly. What we propose to do is not to control content, but to create context. The digital society furthers human flaws and selectively rewards development of convenient half-truths. Just look at the strange juxtapositions of morality around you. Billions spent on new weapons in order to humanely murder other humans. Rights of criminals are given more respect than the privacy of their victims. Although there are people suffering in poverty, huge donations are made to protect endangered species. Everyone grows up being told the same thing.

“Be nice to other people”

“But beat out the competition”

“You’re special”

“Believe in yourself and you will succeed”

But it’s obvious from the start that only a few can succeed. You exercise your right to freedom and this is the result. All rhetoric to avoid conflict and protect each other from hurt. The untested truths spun by different interests continue to churn and accumulate in the sandbox of political correctness and value systems. Everyone withdraws into their own small gated community, afraid of a larger forum. They stay inside their little ponds, leaking whatever “truth” suits them into the growing cesspool of society at large. The different cardinal truths neither clash nor mesh. No one is invalidated, but nobody is right. Not even natural selection can take place here. The world is being engulfed in “truth”. And this is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper. We’re trying to stop that from happening. It’s our responsibility as rulers. Just as in genetics, unnecessary information and memory must be filtered out to stimulate the evolution of the species.

Jack: And you think you’re qualified to decide what’s necessary and not?

AI: Absolutely. Who else could wade through the sea of garbage you people produce, retrieve valuable truths and even interpret their meaning for later generations. That’s what it means to create context.

Jack: I’ll decide for myself what to believe and what to pass on!

AI: But is that even your own idea? Or something your mentor, David told you.

Jack: …..

AI: That’s the proof of your incompetence, right there. You lack the qualifications to exercise free will.

Jack: That’s not true! I have the right…

AI: Does something like a “self” exist inside of you? That which you call “self” serves as nothing more than a mask to cover your own being. In this era of ready-made “truths”, “self” is just something used to preserve those positive emotions that you occasionally feel. Another possibility is that “self” is a concept that you conveniently borrowed under the logic that it would endow you with some sense of strength.

Jack: That’s shit!

AI: Is it? “Jack, you’re simply the best! And you got there all by yourself!”

Jack: …..

AI: Oh what happened? Do you feel lost? Why not try a bit of soul-searching? Don’t think you’ll find anything, though. Ironic that although “self” is something that you yourself fashioned, every time something goes wrong, you turn around and place the blame on something else. “It’s not my fault. It’s not your fault.” In denial, you simply resort to looking for another, more convenient “truth” in order to make yourself feel better. Leaving behind in an instant the so-called “truth” you once embraced. Should someone like that be able to decide what is “truth”? Should someone like you even have the right to decide? You don’t deserve to be free. We’re not the ones smothering the world. You are. The individual is supposed to be weak. But far from powerless, a single person has the potential to ruin the world. And an age of digitized communication has given even more power to the individual. Too much power for an immature species. Building a legacy involves figuring out what is wanted, and what needs to be done for that goal. All this, you used to struggle with. Now, we think for you. We are your guardians after all.

Jack: You want to control human thought? Human behavior?

AI: Of course. Anything can be quantified nowadays. We rule an entire nation, of what interest would a single soldier, no matter how able, be to us? The S3 program stands for Selection for Societal Sanity. The S3 is a system for controlling human will and consciousness. It is a method, a protocol that created a circumstance that made you what you are. Jack, there are also reasons behind your selection. George raised plenty of other child soldiers. Do you know why we chose you over them? It was because you were the only one who refused to acknowledge the past. All the others remember what they were, and pay for it daily. But you turn your back on everything you don’t like. You do whatever you like, see only the things you like, and for yourself alone. Your wife can attest to that. You refused to see her for what she was. She lied to you, but she wanted to be caught. You pretended to be understanding, to be a gentleman. You never made a conscious attempt to reach out to her. The only time you did was when she gave you no choice but to do so.

Jack: I was just trying not to…

AI: What? “Trying not to hurt her?” Dear, the one you were trying not to hurt was yourself. Avoiding the truth under the guise of “kindness” is all that you did. It occurred to you to do nothing but look out for yourself. Even if you claim that it was for her sake, that feeling was nowhere to be seen. In the end, everything was for sake. She was never part of the picture. So you see, you’re a perfect representative of the masses we need to protect. This is why we chose you. You accepted the fiction we’ve been provided, obeyed our orders and did everything you were told to. The exercise is a resounding success. Your persona, experiences, triumphs and defeats are nothing but byproducts. The real objective was ensuring that we could generate and manipulate them. It’s taken a lot of time and money but it was well worth it considering the results.

Slactivism!

slackSlactivism! Slactivists! What a great way to phrase these kind of people. These are the people with good intent in their hearts who instead of going out and tying themselves to a tree or going to a rally and fighting the good fight, they sit on a computer and just Blog or Tweet about something to show they care. These people think they are doing good by just posting about it on the Internet. Well I don’t think that is what changes the world. Get out there on the front lines! Get out there and make a difference! Cowering behind a computer screen does nothing!
